Climate Change

“If the climate was a bank, they would have already saved it.” - Hugo Chavez, Venezuelan’s President addressing the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen.

The various bailouts that have been made over the year have paled in comparison to the decisions made at Copenhagen. Indeed, Chavez might be right: we have the power to make a positive difference for our planet but we do not seem willing to exercise it. Mankind has the habit to focus on the more immediate gains, especially with regards to anything economical. Will it take a catastrophe to cause governments to actively pursue climate change?

The cost for climate change is high. New technologies seldom come cheap and old habits do die hard. Yet, as bank bailouts have shown, governments do have the spending power.

Continue to pray that governments and peoples would recognize the importance of climate change over economic gains; the having the latter amidst a dying planet is not worth it. Pray too, that amidst the considerations over climate changes, that people would come to the realization that this world cannot last.
